FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We know choosing a residential aged care home is a big decision and we’re sure you have lots of questions. We’ve listed the most popular questions below, but if you have any more please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing us on reception@westgateagedcare.com.au or calling (03) 9391 9222

Yes, it is essential that you visit Westgate Aged Care for a tour and meet our staff before you make a decision. Just call one of the team on (03) 9391 9222 and we’ll arrange a tour of the centre, followed by a chat with the Residential Care Manager. We recommend that you also visit other Aged Care services in the region to allow you to compare all the services on offer.

All queries regarding payment options will be discussed with you by our residential care manager at the time of tour/appointment.

Our team are always on hand to explain the application process. It can seem complicated and does involve coordinating with a number of different people. Call one of the team on (03) 9391 9222 for a tour of Westgate Aged Care and the opportunity to chat to our Residential Care Manager in more detail.

Of course! It’s really important to see friendly faces and we warmly welcome all guests. Westgate Aged Care is beautifully designed and offers a range of relaxing areas where you can visit your loved ones and enjoy a drink, snack and catch-up. Choose from our many lounges or outdoor courtyards, private dining room, one of our breakaway ‘nooks’ with fully fitted kitchenette or the privacy of your own room.

We arrange a large program of activities to suit every individual choice and ability, for example, music classes, exercise groups and popular entertainers. We also offer a happy hour!  For those who like to get out and about we arrange outings to the local area including the cinema, library and Gippsland Arts Centre. If there’s a particular activity you enjoy just let one of the staff know and we can see if it can be arranged.

In most cases the answer is yes, however, there are regulatory and safety requirements we’re obligated to comply with. (Your resident agreement will outline these considerations). It’s a great idea to bring personal items from home to make your room feel more familiar and cosy. We can help hang pictures or help arrange your favourite armchair (if suitable). Need to confirm our policy on this!!

We have highly-trained staff who can provide all appropriate levels of care for aged care residents
